A larger aperture means a larger amount of light will get a brighter picture.

ED Lens - Effectively Eliminate Chromatic Aberration

SV503 80ED telescope’s objective lens features an S FPL-51 extra-low dispersion glass ED element, which virtually eliminates chromatic aberration. This results in the good color correction for an ED doublet lens.

Very good price-performance ratio

The telescope is very well made, with clean optical surfaces. The focuser runs smoothly and without play. Chromatic fringing is only visible at 300x magnification and above, and color is clear up to 200x. I'm completely satisfied. Svbony does a very good job.

Outstanding build quality! Love it!

This is my first SVBony scope I have purchased and all I can say is I absolutely love it! Right now I am using primarily for visual observation but moving into Astro photography. The build quality and optic quality on this scope is outstanding. I have previous Celestron 100mm scope I purchased that doesn’t even come close to the detail this 80mm ED F7 scope provides. My previous 100mm scope would not show me any planet detail of Jupiter. With this scope which is even smaller I can see cloud structure, Great Red Spot, and color detail of Jupiter at incredible detail and quality. I am using 100% SVBony accessories and the red line optics with 2X barlow and SVBony upgraded diagonal. This is a professional quality telescope with practically zero chromatic aberration using the color correction filter. This has become my new go to scope and I couldn’t be happier with the SVBony AZ tripod and mount. What a difference this made in my nightly viewing experience!

For the recommended price

A little adjustment of the focuser and that's it. The optics can tell it's ED glass, you can tell the difference. I'll bring you some deep-sky shots in the future.

Very good

I’m experimenting with filters to see whether I can get a better look at nebulae, so I’m not going to talk about out those. You can see some of them, but they are hard to make out since they just look like an area of grey mist against the blackness. I recently bought a zoom eye piece and can’t wait to see Saturn at the higher 7mm magnification. It’s a very good telescope

Superb price/performance ratio

I owned a 102/1000 mm F10 Bresser achromat for some time, now I purchased the Svbony 102mm ED FPL51 and its significaltly better with a lot less chromatic aberrations. I like this refractor a lot, especially because it's sold for an excellent price

Nice Scope

Visual use is decent. Paired with the flattener/ reducer gives really nice edge to edge images. With a decent cam and filters many nebula images have been jaw dropping. Any concerns I could've sent this back, but am very happy with it, great value deal to be had

The image is best

I am wery happy with this refractor. The planets are nice to watch with this refractor telescope. So If you have in mind to buy my reply is buy with no fear it is great item.

It's Worth A Buy!

I purchased the SV503 80ED in 2024 when it was on sale along with a .8 focal reducer/flattener. The build quality of the SV503 80ED is superb! So much so I rate it higher than the build quality of a $1700 75mm refractor I recently purchased from a reputable online astronomy equipment store. The SV503 80ED with .8 focal reducer/flattener provides nice tight round stars across the field of view of an ASI585MC Pro. It however does suffer from pretty bad blue/violet chromatic abberation on brighter stars. I did purchase the SV231 filter to combat the chromatic abberation problem. I've only tried it once in line with an Antlia Quad-Band filter on the Horsehead Nebula (attached). Integration time was short that night and I pushed post processing a bit too hard and it's not the best representation of what this scope can do. But I did attach other photos as well. Some post processing of the images are better than others. All in all this is a great scope for the money and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to take their first step into astrophotography. Of course with a disclaimer about the chromatic abberation if using a color camera. I have been so impressed with the SV503 80ED I have been seriously contemplating getting the SV550 122mm APO. I'll continue using the SV503 80ED for many years to come as I am sure how well it's built, it going to last a long time.

Worth a look as a first scope.

I have the the 80mm version of this scope. I think for the price it's very good. It's not as good as a triplet but the difference is not big, mainly slight halos on bright stars. It's well built and nice to use. I have the reducer for it as well. It's my go to scope and I really like it.
